# WorldGuard Region Data Error

🧭 Fixing the “Region Data is Still Failing to Load” Error (WorldGuard Any World)

If your console shows a message like this:

\[WorldGuard] Region data is still failing to load, at least for the world named 'world', 'world\_nether', or 'world\_the\_end'

WorldGuard can’t find or read the **`regions.yml`** file for that specific world.\
This file stores all of the region protection data managed by WorldGuard.

***

### ⚠️ Cause

The file `plugins/WorldGuard/worlds/<world_name>/regions.yml` is either:

* Missing
* Corrupted
* Or the folder doesn’t exist

***

### 🧰 Step-by-Step Fix

#### 1. Stop the Server

Always stop your Minecraft server before editing plugin files.\
This prevents file access errors and ensures WorldGuard reloads correctly.

***

#### 2. Go to the WorldGuard Folder

Open your server directory and navigate to:

/plugins/WorldGuard/worlds/

***

#### 3. Check for the World Folder

You should see folders named after your worlds, for example:

world/\
world\_nether/\
world\_the\_end/

If the folder for your affected world (e.g., `world_the_end`) is missing, **create it manually**.

***

#### 4. Create a New Region File

Inside that folder, create a new file named:

```
regions.yml
```

***

#### 5. Add the Default Template

Open the file and paste this:

```yaml
regions:
```

***

#### 6. Save and Restart

Save your changes and either run:

/wg reload

or restart your server completely.

You should now see something like:

\[WorldGuard] Loaded 0 regions for world 'world\_the\_end'

✅ That means the problem is fixed!

***

### 🧾 Optional: Add Default Protections

If you want basic global protection for that world (like no PvP or explosions), paste this into the new `regions.yml`:

```
regions:
  __global__:
    type: global
    flags:
      pvp: deny
      tnt: deny
      creeper-explosion: deny
      ghast-fireball: deny
      lava-fire: deny
      fire-spread: deny
    priority: 0
```

Then restart your server or use `/wg reload` again.

***

### 💡 Tips

> 💾 **Always back up** your `regions.yml` files before making edits.\
> 🌍 If you regenerate or rename a world, **recreate the matching folder** in `plugins/WorldGuard/worlds/`.\
> 🧱 You can check loaded regions anytime using:
>
> ```
> /rg list <world_name>
> ```

***

#### ✅ Example Folder Structure

```
plugins/
└── WorldGuard/
    └── worlds/
        ├── world/
        │   └── regions.yml
        ├── world_nether/
        │   └── regions.yml
        └── world_the_end/
            └── regions.yml
```
